CUFF and CBC to host RUN THE BURBS Special Event on Feb 7 with Andrew Phung and Scott Townend In Conversation

On Tuesday, February 7, the Calgary Underground Film Festival and the CBC are partnering for a special event to celebrate homegrown Alberta filmmakers who have achieved national success with RUN THE BURBS EPISODES 6 & 7 PREMIER + IN CONVERSATION W/ SHOW CREATORS.
Following a preview of Season 2 Episodes 6 and 7 of CBC’s original comedy series RUN THE BURBS, show creators Andrew Phung and Scott Townend join In Conversation moderated by CUFF Senior Programmer Brennan Tilley. Alberta filmmakers first participated in CUFF’s 48-hour filmmaking challenge and have been collaborating ever since. After watching the new episodes, CUFF will host a candid discussion about getting started as an indie Alberta filmmaker using the lessons learned from creating, developing and starring in a national TV show.
“I’m a northeast Calgary kid, born and raised, and I’m very proud to have built my career here with the support of arts organizations like CUFF,” said show creator and star Andrew Phung. “Calgary is full of creative talent and I’m so excited to come home to talk about my artistic journey and screen two new episodes of RUN THE BURBS, a show I caught while eating at Inglewood Pizza with my best friend and co-creator Scott. Townend.”
Tickets for the Globe Cinema event are $10 ($8 for members, students and seniors) and include the screening and discussion. Tickets are available for purchase here.
