TOUCH OF EVIL (Masters of Cinema) Limited Edition 2-Disc 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray – September 2023

Eureka Entertainment releases TOUCH OF EVIL, Orson Welles’ film noir masterpiece starring Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh. It was released as part of The Masters of Cinema Series on its UK debut on Ultra HD Blu-ray. Available from September 25, 2023, the limited edition set (only 3,000 copies) includes a hardcover slipcase and a 100-page collector’s book.
Touch of Evil opens with one of the most brilliant scenes in film history; and ends with one of the most brilliant closing scenes ever committed to celluloid. In the meantime, a picture unfolds, whose moral, sexual, racial and aesthetic attitudes remain so radical that they cross borders not only in 1958, but also today.
Charlton Heston stars as Mike Vargas, a Mexican drug kingpin who seeks to uncover the facts by bombing a car that killed a wealthy American businessman on the American side of the border. As Vargas investigates, his new wife Susie (Janet Leigh, two years before Hitchcock’s Psycho) is kidnapped by a gang seeking revenge against their leader’s (Akim Tamiroff) brother. Meanwhile, Vargas’ questions are increasingly confused by American cop Hank Quinlan (played by Welles himself in one of the most impressive and unforgettable film performances of his career), the epitome of corruption, who alternately conspires with Susie’s captors and seeks solace. in the brothel of the gypsy madame (Marlene Dietrich), who comforted him in the old days.
Welles’ final studio-system picture has finally secured its status as one of the greatest films ever made. It continues to prove Welles’ genius – a film of Shakespearean richness, inexhaustible. The Masters of Cinema Series is extremely proud to present Touch of Evil in its UK debut on Ultra HD Blu-ray.
