Two Gems Highlight the 2022 VALLEY FILM FESTIVAL

The year old Valley Film Festival runs August 3-7 in North Hollywood, California. I was lucky enough to score advance screenings and interviews for two feature films.
Two Dash One One
Mackenzie Breeden and Allie Leonard stun April and Marnie in “Two Dash One One,” two young lovers who have crossed over to be reunited in the afterlife. But these ladies have no idea why they ended up in the lake cabin of Marnie’s people.
Director Nate Hapke (He tells the story for the first time as a co-writer with his old filmmaking partner Rosie Grace) could easily have made this story about any two people in love. After all, haven’t most of us wondered, even in that fleeting moment, “Is this the right one?”
Road to Perth
Road To Perth, a road movie that goes beyond the typical genre fodder, also revolves around a couple of young people. Only this time, it’s an American guy enlisted to lead an Australian girl through the vast and harsh desert landscape of Roosok country.
Director Peter Chad he co-writes here with his brilliant co-stars Tommy O’Brien and Hannah Lehmann. Peter shared with me in an interview that much of the script was written and improvised on the fly. He also reveals that this ‘in-the-moment’ approach to filmmaking also includes the stunning images Peter captured as cinematographer on ‘Road’.
What starts out as a tight-lipped introduction between this mutually rudderless couple soon turns into something much cuter.
But where does all this lead when you arrive at your intended destination?
Don’t ask, mate. All I will say is that this is one of those rare and cherished times when I was regrettably rolling the closing credits when I wasn’t ready for the end of the story.
VFF Founder and director Tracey Adlai tells how it all started:
